'Something Small. Every Day.' | Daily Drawing #79
Inspired by a recent post on Medium by writer/artist Austin Kleon. In the post he talks about breaking your work down into days, to do the work every single day, and not 'break the chain'.
I began doing these daily drawings sometime last year, and admitedly, I was not posting every day. There was always something else to take care of, something else that needed my attention or that I deemed 'more important'. I was not focusing on the days, not focusing on how the small things are part of something larger – the body of work.
Some days it's crap, some days it's pure gold. In the long run, the only way to make more 'gold' is to keep posting the crap.
Keep going.
One day at a time.

'Snowmageddon!' | Daily Drawing #78
The East Coast of the US has been getting hit with some pretty awful Winter weather this month. We've had 2 snowstorms in as many weeks and an ice storm last night, which caused widespread power outages from downed wires. It's been one storm after another and we're all starting to feel like we're under siege.
To add to the anxiety, someone posted a weather map last week of a computer model showing a predicted snowfall that would arrive this weekend bringing a snowfall measured in FEET (not inches). Needless to say the image went viral and the snow-weary folks in this area freaked the hell out.
As of now, it looks as though there won't be a monster storm, but the forecast still predicts snow, with more storms on the way next week.
Gas up the Jeep, we're heading to Florida.

A quote from Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.
'I'll Break You in Half! (Like a Boy)' | Daily Drawing #75
I generally keep my political opinions to myself, but this threatening quote from angry Staten Island Congressman Michael Grimm was so over the top I couldn't resist. Grimm, who was being interviewed after the State of the Union address, didn't quite like the reporter's line of questioning and threatened to 'break him in half'.
'Suck It Up, Buttercup!' | Daily Drawing #74
I had a rough day yesterday and caught myself saying this phrase.
Boom, a drawing is born.

I love Tycho's music. Tycho, along with artists like Boards of Canada, Ulrich Schnauss, Hammock, Kiln, A Shoreline Dream make up my daily playlist when I'm working. Not too 'sleepy', not too distracting. Just...right.

Anyone who love Seinfeld will get this one.
Missed yesterday's illustration, was busy setting up the new site on Squarespace. Had some issues with importing the old posts, but otherwise a pretty smooth experience. The platform is excellent for people who don't want to spend all their time 'under the hood' and would rather get shit done!
