Smart Parking Indicator at Nordstrom’s

Last week I had to take a road trip (or pilgrimage, for the faithful) to the Apple Store in Cherry Hill to pick up an adapter I needed in a hurry. (“Cheap” is not something they sell at Apple, and the drones at Best Buy have sold me the wrong goods one too many times.) When I go there, I like to park on the new Nordstrom’s side of the mall and cut through the store. Not that I’ve actually bought anything there recently, but the store is so damned nice and their men’s clothing department makes me want to go out and wear suits again. As I parked, I noticed this sign by their garage:

It’s an LED sign indicating how many parking spots are left on each level, so before you go in the garage and waste time driving in circles and following shoppers to theirs cars in hope that they’re leaving, you just check the sign and park on the appropriate level. It’s a “headslap” moment – why doesn’t every garage have one of these?

This smart, time-saving device is what makes Nordstrom’s top in customer service.
